How to Choose a Dining Table?

In today's blog article, we bring you some advice and tips on how to choose a dining table. If you are in the process of furnishing your new kitchen or simply looking for a new piece to enhance your space, read on to learn what factors to consider when making your selection.
We can all likely agree that the first criterion for a new dining table is that it should look good—this goes without saying. Everyone has different tastes and preferences. However, functionality is just as important.
Let’s take a closer look at the key factors that may influence your choice.

Choice of Material
Today, dining tables can be made from almost any material—metal, wood, glass, and more. Our dining and coffee tables combine high-quality solid oak with elegant metal legs, creating a perfect balance of durability and modern design.
Oak wood is one of the sturdiest options available. In addition to its strength, it has the advantage of being highly resistant to minor scratches, which are inevitable with daily use. A dining table is the heart of your home—it’s where meals are shared, celebrations take place, and even homework gets done. That’s why it’s essential to invest in a high-quality material that will last for years to come.
Table Construction
When it comes to choosing the best construction for dining tables, metal is undoubtedly the ideal choice. A metal frame, securely screwed into the tabletop, ensures perfect stability and maximum durability, even after years of use.
While glued wooden legs may not be entirely unsuitable, even the slightest flaw in execution can lead to loosening, breaking, or detachment over time. That’s why we weld individual legs into a single, solid base, guaranteeing long-lasting stability and durability for your table.
What Is the Right Table Size?
The ideal table size naturally depends on the number of household members or at least how many people will regularly sit at the table. We offer our tables in various sizes, so the choice is entirely up to you. To ensure you select the perfect size, always measure the space where your table will be placed and remember to account for the chairs around it.
As a general guideline, dining tables are usually categorized as follows:
Tables for Two
Ideal for smaller households, child-free couples, compact kitchens, or spaces where saving room is a priority. The minimum recommended size is 80 x 70 cm.
Tables for Four
A standard table size for an average family. Space constraints in your kitchen or dining area may play a role in choosing the right size. The typical dimensions for a four-person table are 160 x 100 cm. This provides each person with approximately 80 x 45 cm of space. If additional guests sit at the table ends, it is possible, but the available tabletop space will be slightly reduced.
Tables for Six or More
Larger tables are designed for bigger families and spacious dining areas. The standard size for a six-person table is 220 x 90 cm, offering about 67.5 x 50 cm per person. If you use the table ends for extra seating, available space per person will decrease. For added comfort, we recommend dimensions over 220 cm, such as a 250 cm length.

Caring for Your Table
Almost every manufacturer will advise protecting your new table from moisture, direct heat, and prolonged exposure to water or steam. While we understand that this isn't always 100% possible, simple steps can help preserve your table’s beauty and longevity. Always wipe up spills as soon as possible, avoid leaving dirt or stains on the surface for extended periods, and use suitable cleaning products. Additionally, following the manufacturer’s recommendations, occasional re-waxing can help maintain and protect the table’s surface.
How Much Should a Quality Dining Table Cost?
This is undoubtedly a crucial question for everyone. Nowadays, retail chains offer dining tables for just a few thousand, but quality is often lacking. Most of these tables are made from laminate, which doesn’t come close to the durability and longevity of solid wood.
It's essential to ask yourself whether you want a table that will last for decades or if you prefer a more affordable option that you'll replace after a few years (which can be a practical solution for those on a tight budget).
A high-quality oak solid wood table naturally comes at a higher price. The average cost for a durable solid wood table is around 25,000 CZK. In our selection, you'll find tables under 20,000 CZK, with the average price of our dining tables being approximately 30,000 CZK. We also offer exclusive models in higher price ranges for those seeking a premium design.
